Partnership with Torre Guaceto

The Marine Protected Area, established in 1991, and the State Nature Reserve, created in 2000, form a system of protected areas covering about 3,300 hectares and a coastal stretch of 8 kilometers, from the provincial capital Brindisi to the territory of Carovigno.
The Reserve is split in two by state road 379, which separates two profoundly different ecosystems:
The inland area (upstream): It is a purely agricultural landscape, the result of the 1931 land reclamation. It is characterized by centuries-old olive groves, dry stone walls, and small farms, with modest naturalistic value.
The coastal area (downstream): It is the wildest area, with almost no buildings, limited to historic structures and the ruins of an old abandoned campsite. It is divided into three main environments:
To the north: Impressive sandy dunes enclosed by dense Mediterranean scrub and seasonal ponds.
To the south: A low, rocky coastline with small coves.
Wetland area (behind the Tower): A former flooded agricultural area that today hosts reed beds and permanent bodies of water, becoming a crucial habitat for birds and amphibians.
In addition, there are the ruins of campsite structures dating back to the 1980s, equipment that has always remained unused and that, definitively abandoned to the destructive action of time and weathering, is currently subject to acts of vandalism that undermine its already precarious state of preservation.

The reserve is divided into 3 zones
